In Greece, use a Game Boy, go to jail
I found this to be quite an interesting story. It turns out that the Greek Government is at it again. The Greek Government has banned all electronic games across the country. The original article quotes that if you are found breaking the law that you "will face fines of 5,000 to 75,000 euros (about $4,980 to $74,650) and imprisonment of one to 12 months". Does anybody find this amusing? The same thing happened during the occupation of Aegean Macedonia in the years following 1913. I wonder if the Greek Government will fine or imprison anybody even if they speak of playing games? Will the government send all those offenders who refuse to stop playing games to the Greek prison camps? Will the government force the Microsoft to rename their game system "Xbox-opoulos" and Sony to called theirs "Playstationassis". Or maybe the Government will claim that "Gaming Systems" are actually Greek. I can just see t-shirts with the Greek flag and the words : "Playstation is Greek" or "Xbox |

Welcome back everybody !
This has been quite the ride! I originally created this web page for everybody interested in the village of Banitsa in Aegean Macedonia (which is now unjustfully considered the village of Vevi in Greece). Whether you were a descendent or simply curious about the village, this website is here for you. Then things started getting a little hectic. The so-called "Allilovoithiticos Syllogos Vevis and Ladies Society" published a 2002 calendar with advertisers. I wrote a little blurb on what supporting this organization indirectly means along with a list of names of the advertisers and soon all hell broke loose! Wow, did I not expect this to cause such a controversy! People were complaining! Photocopies of the web page were being photocopied and an "emergency Vevi society" meeting was being held. "Lele majko, what are we going to do with this Matsedonian descendent who is telling the truth ... somebody might find out the truth behind our lies?", is what I thought might be asked at such |

My Former "Disgust" Article
After all the controversy regarding the article on "Grkomani", I was truly disgusted to find many people took offence to it. Read my thoughts here. |
2002 Banitsa Benevolent Society Valentine's Dance (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)

Some Confused Macedonians !
The "Allilovoithiticos Syllogos Vevis and Ladies Society" of Toronto, Canada has just released a 2002 calendar. In addition to the monthly calendar is advertising from various sponsors. It seems that these sponsors support an organization which is built upon the Greek Government's renaming of a Macedonian Village. Click here for a list of names and businesses who advertised in this calendar, and for more information on the history of Banitsa and ethnic Macedonians. |
